Harlow Sub Aqua Club

Stand at Harlow Town Show by Bill Hulse

MORE than 20,000 attended Harlow Town Show on 6th September 2009, with many of those people coming to the Harlow Sub Aqua Club stand.

The stand, manned by Jon Robertson, Liz Clarke, Jan Archer and Bill Hulse, had enquiries from people who had dived before but not for a long time, total beginners, divers from other agencies, as well as a number of parents with teenage children who are keen to learn the sport.

Treasurer Bill Hulse said: "We booked an amazing 11 try dives, fully paid for on the day, together with a further 13 possibles, making it a record number of bookings from any single event the club has ever experienced."

The bookings have now been passed to Training Officer Roy White who will make contact with everyone who showed an interest as well as paid for a try dive and will organise the try dives over the coming weeks.

The try dives were booked under the BSAC promotion scheme of just £10 each, which at half the normal price clearly proved popular.

"Hopefully following the try dives we will recruit new trainees for the Ocean Diver course but no pressure is put on try divers - that is totally their choice," added Bill.

Bill said: "Thanks to Roy for supplying the coffee and ice creams and to his dog for guarding the free chocolates."

In addition Harlow SAC was able to make contact with local sports and community groups where we made links to the various sporting network sites within the region.

  • A BIG thank you also to Jon Robertson, Liz Clarke, Alan Harman and Lorna Crump for manning the HSAC publicity stand at Nazeing Show the following weekend.
