Q: How fit must I be?
A: Diving is not an Olympic sport, but the ability to stand with and carry heavy items of dive equipment without risk of personal injury is essential. The actual process of underwater swimming in a weightless environment is less strenuous than entry into and exit from the water itself! A reasonable level of fitness is therefore required, and certainly anyone with medical conditions, especially those involving cardio vascular, lung, hearing or vision impairments may need special consideration. However, all trainees and divers are subject to medical assessment on a regular basis.
