Compass Navigation
IT’S not every week that you see a wreck and a shoal of fish in Stewards School Pool but Wednesday was an exception.
Instructor Monika Farrell had organised a navigation course with 12 points of reference from the Giannis D wreck to a dolphin, a Great White shark and even a Harman fish!
Monika began the course with a PowerPoint presentation pointing out important compass features including the bezel, lubber line and north seeking needle before explaining how they work.
After a short practice in the classroom buddies then took to the pool for further practice using bearings to find picture cards attached to weights, noting them down as they went.
Everyone said what a great night they had had and thanked Monika for all her preparation.
Using the Submit a Form function on the website Cliff said: “Would just like to say a big thank you to Monika, I didn't get a chance on the night, for taking the time to arrange the Navigation Session. It took a lot of work to arrange this, and the theory in the classroom was very informative.”
