Due to the varying requirements for training this was a difficult day to organise.  Angela and Monica had some Dive Leader training to complete, Ollie and Chris has Ocean Diver training and Stuart was completing his first Open Water Dive as Assistant Instructor.  Kelvin was along for the dive and Chris’s wife was along for the enjoyment of the day.

Angela and Monica setup and went in off the ramp with Alan, Kelvin keeping a close eye on all in the group.  The Dive and Rescue Skills Review went well, Monica completed the task and Angela although having passed previously enjoyed the practice.

After the dive they enjoyed lunch with the geese roaming round looking for some tit bits.  Stuart, Alan, Roy and Ollie finished their dive and were full of the excitement of first day chatting about how different it is from the pool environment and the different challenges this task placed on them.  Neverthless they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Sometimes the more experienced divers forget the feelings of a first Open Water dive, but chatting to people who have just completed it brings the memories back and the confirmation of skills practice.

On the second dive Angela, Monica, Alan and Kelvin set off back in this time jumping off the high platform, stride entry, fun for a change.  We all finned to the surface buoys at the decompression point, we all went down together assembled at the platform at the bottom.  Viz was poor at depth, Alan gave the signal to move forward, Angela looked down at her watch looked up and magic they disappeared.  Hmm I can take a hint, I completed my check for one minute and still could not see anyone so ascended completing my safety stop and when I broke the surface low and behold Alan was there with Monica and Kelvin.  We set off again to descend and completed the Rescue Skills Review module, completing by a tow on the surface for 50 meters which was a task in itself.  The last part of the module was to be left until Wednesday next week where we would complete the Rescue Breaths and Chest Compressions on Annie the doll.

On return to the shore we had our debrief and Alan announced we had passed the skills that day.  We all sat down, and enjoyed the time waiting for the others to return.

Roy, Stuart, Ollie and Chris returned again after an enjoyable dive.  We all put our kit in our cars and left on the home journey looking forward to dinner and putting our feet up.

Monica and Angela completed their module with Annie on the Wednesday.  Monica still has a few dives to do to achieve her Dive Leader training which she is in the process of arranging and Angela completed her Dive Leader training now.

What a day in Muddy Waters.   ;-)
